Our Mission
The mission of PALS with Pawz is to train rescued and donated dogs to assist
people with disabilities. Our goal is to Create a Loving Relationship Between
the Rescued or Donated Dog and their Disabled Partner; resulting in the
enhancement of their physical and emotional freedoms, sense of security,
independence and the enrichment of their quality of life.
As a Public Service, PALS with Pawz has two additional programs. READING
Pawz RIF, which utilizes our Therapy dogs and their handlers by volunteering
their time to children who need a little extra assistance with their reading.
Classroom Pawz, takes the Service and/or Therapy Dogs into the elementary
and middle schools, educating students on subjects such as: How to approach a
strange dog, Importance of Service Dogs in our society, Dog Safety, etc.

Dogs available for adoption -
PALS with Pawz occasionally has dogs available for adoption. We have
males and females, purebreds and mixes. They are looking for their
forever home.
Service dog information - Want to know more about the people we

READING Pawz - Utilizes Therapy animals who have been trained with their
owners to volunteer to offer children an opportunity to improve their reading
in a setting which has proven not only effective but fun.
CLASSROOM Pawz - PALS with Pawz visits local elementary/middle schools
and teaches them topics such as Dog Safety, Dogs in Our Community...
PALS with Pawz prides itself on:
Rescuing dogs – PALS with Pawz rescues and trains unwanted and abandoned
dogs, helping solve the pet overpopulation problem. We do not have a puppy-
raising program. We turn “throw-aways” into superstars!
Customized training – PALS with Pawz matches dogs to their new disabled
partner and trains the dog to do the specific tasks required by each individual.
Provides hands-on support – PALS with Pawz will visit our clients in their
homes, offices, and schools to introduce the service dog and to help maintain
a successful team.
Maximizes your donation – PALS with Pawz ensures 85¢ of every dollar spent
goes directly toward program expenses.
Teaches dogs to work with their tails "a-waggin" – PALS with Pawz uses
positive reinforcement – treats, praise, petting – to shape play behaviors
(retrieve, tug, paw, touch) into helpful tasks. Our dogs love to "help" their
disabled partner and we love to see their tails wagging while “working.”
PALS with Pawz educates the public to increase their awareness of
disabilities. PALS with Pawz also informs the public about the rights and
etiquette for all assistance dogs.
